School Infrastructure development and quality education in fishing villages in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam |

Children education is affected by this lack of basic infrastructure and minimum facilities at the school, even to make children sit in a room. This is playing an abrasive role on the children education and life. They drop out early or don't attend school and instead start working at a tender age in dangerous occupations with bondage and high risk for life.
In Collaboration with Friends Indeed (The Netherlands) we augmented our focus of work on children education and children in difficult situations. Friends Indeed works with the objective of " A Home A School A Future ". |
|
| |
| |
One of the important efforts is working towards quality education by providing infrastructure, bridge classes, additional teachers and learning teaching and games material. With these efforts we have achieved 100% children enrolment along with higher retention levels, continuation of studies from primary to upper primary and avoided stagnation. Friends Indeed and ARDAR together have created permanent quality infrastructure along with learning and teaching material in the marine fishing villages of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram districts in Andhra Pradesh. Till now we have completed 7 schools with 37 rooms solely meant for Government Primary, Upper Primary and High Schools |

The Residential Care and Education centre provides care, rehabilitation and support to children in bondage and child labour as well as orphans . It was started with 10 children in June 2003. Now the Rainbow centre is a home for 60 children. This centre is located at Konada junction, Kothakopperla village of Poosapati Rega Mandal / Block. The children are from the surrounding marine fishing and farming villages. The children in the backward areas and mainly belonging to certain sections of the society (in India such sections are called as castes) are deprived of normal life, bear minimum food for survival and opportunity for growth. COMMUNITY BASED CARE AND SUPPORT FOR CLHA & CAA |
|

|
ARDAR with the support of few small individual donors is currently supporting Children Living with HIV/AIDS (CLHA) and Children Affected by HIV/AIDS (CAA) . ARDAR supports children by providing support for food, health, education and other needs. We have started supporting 20 children through individual donations. The cost of such support is Rs. 9,560 (€ 190) for CLHA and Rs. 4,620 (€ 90) for CAA for one year. We plan to raise more funds to meet the needs.

sustainable change and improvise the quality of life of CLHA and CAA.The activities can be broadly divided into Community Level Support and Comprehensive support for the children. While community level support focuses on bringing social and attitude change the latter form focuses on addressing immediate needs of CLHA and CAA and also creating institutions which can carry it forward. In community level support, Community Counsellors will be instrumental in the follow-up and support of PLHA in the communities. They will involve in the counselling education to help address stigma and rejection. |

| A child and his family are suddenly driven into a vulnerable situation when somebody in the family is infected with HIV/AIDS. While in comprehensive support such families, which have been affected by HIV/AIDS and need support, will be focus. The support is for two years. At the end of the period the family in which the child lives will be able to handle the situation independent of the support. |

The goal of project is to be a regional Care Centre for disabled children and provide the needed support for them to achieve their children rights. We choose an integrated approach, crossing the borders of children's home, to reach the children at the villages. It is a combination of Regional Mobile Healthcare, a vocational training centre with a hostel, a healthcare centre and a children's village. The Regional Campus "Challenge", with the capacity to host many children, has the potential to become the epicentre of care for those inhabitants of three districts who desperately need support. |

MANASU is the only girl care centre in Visakhapatnam . Since its opening there has been a lot of interest from different stakeholders like government agencies, politicians, NGOs etc. Overall about 38 children came to MANASU in the last 1 year (Feb 2008 start date). We have successfully unified 15 of these children with their parents. There are 23 children currently in the centre and most of these children are going to school. The children are highly vulnerable children: runaway from homes, work places, children of CSWs etc. |

ARDAR and ING Foundation realised that there is a need to work on infrastructure development of schools if the issue of quality or minimum standard education has to be addressed in the slums of Hyderabad . In MRC Colony (near film Nagar) children attend classes in a 1 room community hall. Else where in Chandra Babu Nagar (Rasoolpur) children attend school in a school built with eurocon sheets and insufficient rooms. We have constructed 5 room school buildings in both the slums.
